#schoolofprint

Help us to build Nottingham’s School of Print and be part of the project from the very beginning!

We are working collaboratively with in house print studio Dizzy Ink and screenprinting technician Tom Camp to build an open access Screen printing facility for all ages and abilities.

With a variety of printing methods including risograph, screenprinting and mimeograph, the School of Print will facilitate and educate practitioners of print through a varied workshop programme and the option of membership to come and use the space and facilities once trained on the equipment!

We’ve launched a kickstarter to raise £8000 to make the School of Print a reality, we want to bring print to the people and keep this incredible medium alive! You can show your support by sharing our campaign, watching our video or pledging to receive some of our great print based rewards!

about

Lying derelict for over 30 years, this previously hidden gem of Nottingham is set to become the city’s epicentre for cutting edge design .

Cobden Place is a beautiful heritage building located at the heart of Nottingham city centre and creative quarter, nestled within the newly regenerated Cobden Chambers.

The old factory building has been sympathetically restored to house an exciting collection of emerging and established businesses in an open plan co working environment. A celebration of design, innovation and collaboration.

With 3 floors of creative office space, meeting rooms, private and shared working environments. Cobden Place will open as hub for entrepenurs and small businesses.  Hosting a ground floor cafe and retail  space offering fashion, home-ware, Art, lifestyle brands and giftware. Cobden Place is set to be Nottingham’s premiere destination for design. Join and finish projects collaboratively with enthralling views of the city centre rooftops.

Cobden Place endeavours to incubate and support an array of creatively driven independent businesses, and encourage growth within Nottingham’s design industry.

Driven by the need for a platform after university, Cobden Place was created by two Nottingham Trent fine art graduates who felt the force of the drop off after graduating. Missing the momentum they had built up at university, they identified the lack of support for local talent as their friends left for finer pastures. With a history of independence, they felt Nottingham was losing the individuals who could ignite a revolution within the city and disconnecting with those who existed within it already.

We invite you to join us on our journey, be inspired and entertained by Nottingham’s newest place.

history

An old lace factory reawakened with an innovative concept.

The records for Cobden Chambers date back to 1801 and the space has been called a variety of names, including Pelham court, Pelham Place, Old Bath yard and from 1883 Cobden Chambers. The location has been home to an extensive variety of creative and independent businesses over the years, including lace designers, milliners, dressmakers, watchmakers, wool merchants and photographers.

In October 2012, Bildurn  set out to regenerate the area, clearing the derelict and overgrown courtyard and reviving the space with urban art and pastel colours. Vacant since the early 70’s the transformation has been immense, the renovated terraces have since been brought back to life with a diverse collection of independent stores and businesses.

Cobden Place is the final piece of the puzzle, previously a lace factory its 5 floors are now being sensitively restored as the creators of Hopkinson, Nottinghams vintage Antiques and Arts centre, prepare to fill the space with a plethora of independent brands, designers and businesses.
